YouTube is taking the world by storm as 2014 was a year of triumph and accomplishment for many YouTube creators which is seen to continue through 2015. YouTubers, those who create content on the site of YouTube, are becoming more and more recognised as their viewers are helping them to gain further opportunities.

Tanya Burr started her YouTube channel in 2009 creating videos of makeup tutorials. She is a professional makeup artist however that has gone on the sideline after the success of her YouTube channel. She has her very own cosmetics range under the name of Tanya Burr Cosmetics which includes nail varnishes, lip glosses and false eyelashes. Her brand is set to grow throughout 2015. This year she is also releasing a book on the 29th of January called Love, Tanya. It is not a novel but partly about her and her tips on fashion, beauty, baking, friendship and love.

Alfie Deyes (PointlessBlog on YouTube) released The Pointless Book last September. It is an activity book full of challenges, laughs and some fun things to do with friends based on his YouTube channel where he fouls around to entertain his viewers. At his book signing in London, it has been said that 8,000 people turned up to see Alfie during which he and girlfriend, Zoe Sugg, were blocked in their car.  The majority had to be turned away from the event as it would have taken hours to meet them all as well as it not being safe. Security had to be increased and police were called to help. Since this, he had another book signing which was held at the Excel Exhibition and Convention Centre so the viewers were safe, including Alfie Deyes himself.

YouTuber Zoe Sugg (Zoella) has had much success through YouTube with nearly 7 million viewers who watch her weekly. She launched her very own beauty range, Zoella Beauty last September in Superdrug and Feel Unique website. The range sold out all over the country as the products could appeal to anyone and everyone. The line consists of a body mist, body lotion, bath fizz bar, shower cream and a choice of three makeup bags.  Since then, the internet personality released her first novel, Girl Online, which outsold the likes of Dan Brown and J. K. Rowling. Yet, she came under scrutiny after her publisher, Penguin released a statement revealing the fact she had an editorial team to help her ‘ghost-write’ her book. Many authors have the help of an editorial team especially on their first novel, just like Zoe had, to help develop the characters and the storyline. This process was completely alien to Zoe as she had never written a book before. The success Zoe has had with her book should not be taken away from her for this. She sold 78,109 copies in the first week of its release, which is incredible.

This year more YouTubers are releasing books as more publishers are realising the potential these have to sell big. Carrie Hope Fletcher from ItsWayPastMyBedtime is releasing a book in April. An avid book fan she read 22 books last year as she turned 22. Her book, All I Know Now, is to be released in April which can be pre-ordered now. Carrie is a star on the West End playing Éponine in Les Misérables as well as being the sister of McFly’s Tom Fletcher. Therefore, she already had a brief following before becoming a well-known YouTube personality. Along with Carrie and Tanya, Fleur de Force is set to release a book in February called The Glam Guide containing tips on lifestyle, makeup, skincare, hair, travel and health & fitness.

Dan Howell (danisnotonfire) and Phil Lester (AmazingPhil) were given the opportunity to host a radio show on BBC Radio 1 from August 2014 after their channels have blown up over the last years. This has had great success which has led to the opportunity for fellow YouTubers such as Joe Sugg, Marcus Butler, Caspar Lee, Troye Sivan and Tyler Oakley to either guest appear with Dan and Phil or host their own radio broadcast. As well as listening via the radio, listeners and viewers can watch their show on the BBC Radio 1 website to get a visual view.

YouTube conventions are held all over the world so viewers can meet their favourite YouTubers and they, their viewers who got them into the position of having so many opportunities. The most popular ones which viewers want to attend are in America: Playlist Live, Florida and Vidcon, LA. These events are now massive and the attendees, both YouTuber and viewer wise have continued to increase as the years have progressed and YouTube has expanded. This shows how crazy the YouTube community has become and it is still growing today.
