It is hardly possible to walk out of a movie without having anything to say. Was it good? Was it worth our time? And would you recommend it to your friends? Opinions about Furious 7 differ from one person to another and no film review is ever objective enough. When you watch a movie, you can barely stay indifferent to what you saw and it makes you question a lot of things, especially if you have watched the six parts throughout the years.

1. Tribute to Paul Walker

For those of you who do not know, the movie starred Paul Walker till its very end. However, that was only possible because his brother was present on set after he was gone, which kept him alive on screen, through very sophisticated technology. Walker’s presence created some sort of emotional aspect to the movie, as his fans witnessed his last appearance and his co-actors remembered him in every line and every scene. The tribute to Paul Walker was not only shown, but also felt, through the love of Dominic Toretto (played by Vin Diesel) and the rest of the cast towards Brian O’Conner (played by Walker) as well as the crew and director James Wan’s support.

2. The Plot

Rated 8.0/10 by IMDb, this thriller’s action-crime plot focusses on Deckard Shaw (played by Jason Statham) seeking revenge against Dominic Toretto (played by Vin Diesel) and his family for his comatose brother. It is exciting, full of suspense, and has strong messages such as the importance of family, the power of love, the dilemma between forgiveness and revenge, the commemoration of friendships, the manifestation of hope, and the contrast between life and death. The fact that the movie has a purpose, other than entertainment, shows that the writer Chris Morgan knew how to touch an audience that has just lost an inspirational actor who truly followed the motto ‘Ride or Die’.

3. The Production

As it hits $1 billion on its third weekend, according to Forbes, Furious 7 is among the fastest films in history to reach that number, along with The Avengers (2012)Avatar, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. The production crew filmed in Atlanta, Georgia and Abu Dhabi, two destinations extremely suitable for the actions that included drifting, jumping from one building to another and other heroic and reality-defying actions.

For a fact, viewers have criticized the movie for that. However, who said that it has to be realistic in the first place? It is called a movie for a reason and it couldn’t have been made in any other way. The angles taken by the production crew, the shots, whether it is the one showing the ashes of a building, the characters drifting, or the little details that we barely notice, as well as the sounds and the lighting, added legacy and value to the history of films in our days. Didn’t you feel a rush while watching? Then the production achieved exactly its goal. Also, we should mention that one of the cars used is the most expensive car in the world, the Lykan HyperSport, costing $3.4 million (it goes from 0 to 60 in less than 3 seconds), produced by a Lebanese company in the Middle East.

4. The Script

Furious 7 is not only about the action – the script is powerful and demanding. It completes the filming and makes it a much more interesting work of art. Here are some notable lines in which Vin Diesel not only speaks to his co-actor, but also best friend Paul Walker:

Dominic Toretto (Diesel) [remembering the time he had with Brian]: ‘I used to say I live my life a quarter mile at a time and I think that’s why we were brothers – because you did too. No matter where you are, whether it’s a quarter mile away or half way across the world, the most important thing in life will always be the people in this room, right here, right now. Salute mi familia. You’ll always be with me. And you’ll always be my brother’.

5. The Soundtracks

It is always more engaging when the viewers find the soundtracks of a movie beautiful and want to add them to their playlists. Furious 7 presented a range of soundtracks that will always remind us of scenes, words, and actions from the film. The most famous of all, and the most touching, would be ‘See you again’ by Wiz Khalifa feat. Charlie Puth which is dedicated to Paul Walker, and says towards the end of the movie:

It’s been a long day without you, my friend
And I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again
We’ve come a long way from where we began
Oh, I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again

If you have watched it, great. If you haven’t, then do! It is a must! Until Furious 8 … one last ride.
