A symbolic walk to support Britain’s homeless and mental health sufferers
Steve Carr, 39 from Swindon set off from Lands End on Monday the 1st of February with his eyes set on John o’Groats.
Steve aims to raise money for the homeless and mental health charities across the country as he makes the epic journey northwards on a budget of just one hundred pounds, travelling one thousand miles.
Having experienced mental health problems in the past, Steve is hoping to raise awareness not just of this but also of the terrible problem of homelessness experienced across the United Kingdom.
In an interview with Flic in January Steve explained that while his end destination is John o’Groats that he has ‘no planned route — I am going with the unknown, which is exactly what happens to someone who suffers mental health issues or homelessness, there is no plan’.
Steve is not alone however, with a strong support network up and down the country he has plenty of places to call upon as he travels along the breadth of the United Kingdom. Posting daily on his Facebook Page, Mental Health and Homeless Resource and his website www.mindcanyon.com, Steve will document his journey as he travels along the canyon of endurance that is to come.
