Thanks to your founder and growing team of dedicated journalists and writers we’re able to continue the good work of getting the truth to you!
Here at Shout Out UK we’re feeling pretty good, having just won a coveted business support package worth £2,000 at the 2016 Harrow Business Den competition.
Our founder and director, Matteo Bergamini, impressed a tough panel of judges by showcasing the growing range of activities our independent news network offers, which include: digital journalism, film, events and a school course programme.
Shout Out UK’s innovative approach and high standards allowed us to beat three other rivals in the final, amongst hundreds of talented entrepreneurs and start-ups. Our prize includes crucial support for ongoing success from Harrow Council’s Economic Development Team, consisting of: use of the council’s pop-up shop, goods valued at £1,500 from Engie for business support, and £500 worth of accountancy support from Godley and Co.
Here is what Matteo Bergamini had to say:
‘We aim to engage all Harrow’s young people in politics and current affairs. The prize will really help us kick on — expanding our courses and joining up with more schools in Harrow.
‘I was stunned when I was announced the winner of this year’s Harrow Business Den. Having grown up and lived in Harrow all my life, it is a huge honour! The event was amazing, I met some incredible people and the judges were fantastic’.
The judging panel included Deputy Leader of the council, Cllr Keith Ferry; Paul Dukes, Area Business Manager for Barclays; Nigel Seaward; Regional Director of Engie; and Priti Vyas, partner of Bharti Vyas Beauty Salon in Harrow.
Cllr Keith Ferry, Deputy Leader and portfolio holder for business said:
‘Each year this event gets better and better. Well done to all our finalists, who were all of a high calibre. This year we have yet again seen how innovative our local entrepreneurs and businesses are. We pride ourselves in helping businesses grow and succeed. No matter how advanced your business is, we have a range of help and support available for you’.
Here at Shout Out UK we have already benefited greatly from the support and advice offered by staff at the Stanmore Business Innovation Centre (our current residence). The centre provides space for new businesses and was created as a result of an agreement between Harrow Council and St Edward, the developer of Stanmore Place.
