Shout Out UK are teaming up with acclaimed Channel 5 and SBTV presenter, Aaron Roach Bridgeman, to digitise their already-successful Political Literacy Course which has been running in schools since January 2016.

Starting in a People’s Referral Unit in Croydon, the course has now been taught in over 20 high schools across the UK; including London, Dartford, Cambridge and Yorkshire.

Since its inception, the course has garnered strong endorsements from teachers, politicians and journalists alike. Louise Haigh, Labour’s youngest-serving MP, praised ‘the important work’ being done by Shout Out UK, whilst Fatima Manji of Channel 4 News declared that ‘this course can help equip them [young people] with the tools to challenge decision makers better’.

The course covers an Introduction to British Politics (local and national, separation of powers, voting and debating), International Relations (Britain and the world, media literacy, political theory) and Employability & Politics (oratory skills, debating and public speaking).

In essence, the course shows young people that politics is in everything we do in life — so it pays to be involved.

Aaron will be providing the voice-over narration for the online edition of the course, which will be released on Friday the 8th of September — International Literacy Day.

Aaron said: ‘It feels good to have become the voice of something that will hopefully go on to create a real connection between politics and young people. Shout Out UK — you guys are LEGENDS!’

The online course will be available to buy both separately and as a part of Shout Out UK’s new Subscription service which is launching in schools in September 2017: https://www.shoutoutuk.org/enrichment/

The subscription service, a year-long package, aims to provide students with the tools necessary to engage in politics and a platform to shout out and be heard. Spearheaded by the course — and supplemented by a host of different infographics, videos, articles, workshops and events — Shout Out UK are offering the next generation a one-stop-shop for political learning and enrichment.

Matteo Bergamini, Founder and CEO of Shout Out UK said: ‘We can’t wait to get the subscription launched, as it will finally create a one-stop-shop for political learning that will be entertaining, engaging and ensure that all young people have access to information about our political system, our democracy’.
