Let me just start this article by stating that I, as many people know, essentially oppose the existence of Israel and dispute its right to just about anything that it tries to claim, or do. It isn’t that I strongly support the Muslims of Palestine, as you will also know, and it isn’t that my thought-process comes from an anti-semitic standpoint either. The issue is more along the lines of … if Israel was a political party, it would be the modern-day equivalent to Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Party — backed by the United States.
Now … I do not believe that Donald Trump is anything like Adolf Hitler, however, he has recently decided to take up the position of world editor, much like the historic German leader. Officially, Trump has met up with that fellah whose name almost rhymes with the popular milkshake Yazoo and has announced to the world that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. This is a problem.
Firstly, it is a problem because Jerusalem is the home of all three Abrahamic religions; a place of pilgrimage for Jews, Christians and Muslims alike for millennia. This move doesn’t make such an issue for Christians around the globe who wish to do pilgrimage, however, for a Muslim it does; they are welcome, but they aren’t welcome — if you catch my drift. Or potentially, they won’t want to go into Israel at all, due to the ongoing Palestine-Israel divide and the greedy nature of Israelites and their general racism towards Arab Muslims.
Secondly, a single person cannot simply decide that a city should be placed in a particular country. That is a decision that should be made democratically by every person involved. Unfortunately, though, Israel has been pocketing Western nations — especially the US — since its introduction to the world on the 14th of May 1948. So, it is unsurprising really that they have convinced Trump — the first President bold enough — to officiate such a drastic measure.
Thirdly … the backlash. Hamas Politburo Chief, Ismail Haniyeh will sum this point up for me:
‘Tomorrow, December 8, 2017, should be a day of rage and the beginning of a major effort to rise up, which I will name the intifada of Jerusalem and the West Bank’s freedom. As we liberated Gaza, we are able … to free Jerusalem and the West Bank by the way of this popular struggle’.
Oh, and by doing this, Trump has:
‘Opened the gates of hell’.
Brilliant!
Now, Islamic Jihad is a very well-known concept which tends to result, almost on a daily basis, globally, in the mass loss of innocent life. It happens when people from certain sects of Islam are offended, upset, or simply disagree with the actions of other people outside of their circle. People in the West tend to state that it is only a tiny minority of Muslims who follow a strict, fundamentalist Islamic ideology that brings harm to others — figures suggest that only 1 per cent do this. That doesn’t sound like much, I know. However, there are approximately 1.6 billion Muslims worldwide; meaning that 16 million of them could be Islamists. That’s a large number of people. What’s worse, additional Muslims support the Islamist cause.
Seems irrelevant, no doubt. But unfortunately, it isn’t. In a televised response to Trump’s announcement, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas called it:
‘a declaration of withdrawal from the role [the US] has played in the peace process’.
He further called the decision:
‘[a] reward to Israel for denying agreements and defying international legitimacy and encourages it to continue the policy of occupation, settlement, apartheid and ethnic cleansing’.
Adding, that the Palestinian leadership will meet in the coming days and consult with Arab leaders to formulate a response.
The Palestinians’ chief peace negotiator, Saeb Erekat, said the announcement has ‘disqualified the United States of America to play any role in any peace process’.
I think Trump and Israel have just about pushed the right buttons to unleash the prophesied hellfire, and as the Qur’an says …
‘Strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is their destination’.
—Quran 9:73
