Shout Out UK teamed up with the Angel Comedy club to bring a night of awareness- (and hair-) raising comedy in celebration of International Women’s Day 2018. The night showcased some of London’s funniest comedians while highlighting the persisting problem of female under-representation in, but not limited to, the fields of comedy and politics. We saw stellar performances from Alexis Wieroniey, Athena Kugblenu, Bisha K Ali, Eleanor Morton, Harriet Braine and Roisin&Chiara. Ticket sales raised money for The Fawcett Society – a vital organisation, set up by suffragist Millicent Fawcett and continuing to fight for gender equality today – and we were honoured to have chief executive Sam Smethers joining us and talking about their work.
Eleanor is a “sometimes musical” comedian and writer. Her intelligent stand-up always delivers. Eleanor has written for The BBC programmes ‘What’s Funny About The Referendum?’ and SKETCHLAND, and is also a performer with the award nominated London comedy groups Weirdos and Comedian’s Cinema Club.
