It is good to have a little bit of tension from your work, but if your tension takes a toll on your performance then it becomes a point to consider.

  • Anxiety

When you are incapable of meeting your deadlines, anxiety may occur and make things even worse.

  • Depression

Depression is directly related to tension. If you are not succeeding in work or academics, for instance, depression can reduce your overall performance even further.

  • Discouragement

The feeling of diminished self-worth is a common psychological symptom. Underperformance and an inability to meet deadlines can lead to further discouragement.


Behaviour shows how a person is handling stress. Irritated and rude behaviour is symptomatic of a person facing stress. It is better to spot behavioural changes as soon as possible because this kind of stress does not show itself immediately. But these types do:

  • Absenteeism

People who are stressed tend to remain absent from work. They might be trying to avoid facing a difficult situation, which is usually the better option in their view.

  • Poor punctuality

Lack of punctuality is a common symptom of stress. Taking too much work and being unable to complete it results in lack of punctuality. One should aim to take on work that they can complete within the set time.
