For Schools & Colleges

Shout Out UK (SOUK) offers a comprehensive suite of workshops, multi-session courses and assemblies on democratic engagement, Political and Media Literacy for both students and teachers.

Until every eligible voter is given the tools to understand how their government works and how to identify disinformation for themselves, extreme views and conspiracy theories will continue to grow, and democracy will suffer. SOUK’s programmes equip both your students and staff with the knowledge required to participate in our democracy and the critical thinking skills necessary to discern fact from fiction, fostering a more resilient and informed citizenry.

Our services include:

  • Short form assemblies on Democratic Engagement, including how to register to vote and information on the Elections Act 2022.
  • Political and media literacy workshops and courses: We empower young people through interactive workshops, enhancing their understanding of political systems and the ability to critically evaluate information.
  • Train The Trainer: We empower Frontline practitioners and teachers through multi-session courses and workshops, enhancing their knowledge of political and media literacy, ensuring they have the confidence and knowledge to deliver such sessions, including how to have difficult conversations.
  • Building resilience: We offer specialised programmes, in line with Prevent, focused to equip students with the critical thinking skills to understand and be resilient to extremism.

By investing in preventive measures like media and political literacy initiatives, we can significantly reduce the long-term costs and societal damage caused by the spread of disinformation. Informed and empowered citizens, armed with critical thinking, ensures an active and healthy democracy, which promotes social cohesion.
