Every year, millions of people engage in various decision-making processes, and millions more do so for the first time, providing the opportunity to have their voice heard. Disinformation and misinformation are not new to democratic discourse, but technology presents both new challenges and new opportunities to foster a more informed and resilient public. This is why Ofcom, Shout Out UK, and the Electoral Commission are collaborating on the DISMISS campaign to equip young people with the skills they need to dismiss disinformation in an ever-changing digital landscape. The campaign tackles topics like disinformation, echo chambers, and deep fakes right where young people are likely to experience those challenges: on their social media feeds.
