Improving Democratic Education

Shout Out UK has partnered with the Electoral Commission to develop a comprehensive suite of teaching resources designed to equip young people aged 11-18 to resist misinformation and disinformation around democracy and elections. These resources are designed to be as flexible as possible, allowing schools to use them in ways that best fit their schedules and curriculum needs. The pack includes the following, differentiated for Key Stage 3, 4, and 5: • 4 x 20-minute mini session slide decks, suitable as standalone sessions or delivered as part of a sequence• 1 x 60-minute lesson slide deck• 1 x 60-minute lesson plan• 1 x assembly slide deck• 1 x home-learning task (for Key Stages 3 and 4)• 1 x Tricky Question Teacher Toolkit, to support staff in confidently navigating discussions the materials may spark• 6 x downloadable 'Connect to Your Vote' posters, suitable for sharing in newsletters or printing for display boards Each slide deck has animations to support accessibility and engagement, and detailed speaker notes to support school staff delivering the session.
