Project Outcomes:
- In our pre-programme survey, 40% of students “Somewhat disagreed”, “Disagreed” or “Strongly disagreed” with the statement “I check the credibility of online articles, for example, by trying to understand their arguments” while 27% either “Strongly agreed” or “Agreed”.
- In our post-programme survey, the number of students who either “Somewhat disagreed”, “Disagreed” or “Strongly disagreed” with the same statement totalled 18%. In contrast, the proportion of students who either “Strongly agreed” or “Agreed” with the statement increased to 58% of students following participation in our programme.
- In our pre-programme survey 10% of students either “Strongly disagreed”, or “Disagreed”, with the statement “I am aware of the problem of hate speech on social media” while 68% either “Strongly agreed” or “Agreed”. Comparatively, in our post-programme survey, the number of students who either Strongly disagreed”, or “Disagreed”, with the same statement fell to 2%. On the other hand, of the total participants who responded to the statement, 84% either “Strongly agreed” or “Agreed”.
- In our pre-programme survey, 40% of students either “Strongly disagreed” or “Disagreed” with the statement “I am aware of how to prevent spread of extremist disinformation online” while 20% either “Strongly agreed” or “Agreed”.
- In comparison, in our post-programme survey the number of students who either “Strongly disagreed” or “Disagreed” with the statement “I am aware of how to prevent spread of extremist disinformation online had dropped to 6% out of the total number of students who responded to the statement. In addition, the figure of students who “Strongly agreed” or “Agreed” with the statement rose to 68% in total.
