What you need

  • National Insurance number (optional)
  • Current address in the UK
  • To be 16 or over (14 or over in Scotland and Wales) and meet eligible citizenship requirements. Age limits can vary for devolved elections, however, you must be 18 or over to vote in a General Election.

  • You can vote in person at your local polling station, by post, or sign-up for a proxy vote.
  • To vote in person or by proxy, you will now need to bring a valid form of ID with you.

Passport issued by the UK, any of the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, a British Overseas Territory, an EEA state or a Commonwealth country (including an Irish Passport Card)

Driving licence issued by the UK, any of the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, or an EEA state (this includes a provisional driving licence)
