Shout Out UK (SOUK) is proud to announce a strategic partnership with the Council for Countering Online Disinformation (CCOD).

This collaboration unites SOUK’s frontline expertise in media literacy with CCOD’s formidable policy and government engagement reach. Together, we will curate joint events, bridge research gaps, and scale our impact on how digital disinformation affects young people.

Commenting on the news, Thomas Barton, Founder and Executive Director of the CCOD, said:

One of the main reasons I founded the Council was to bring together like-minded organisations committed to addressing disinformation; uniting the ecosystem is the best way to effect meaningful change. This is why I am really excited to be joining forces with SOUK to work together on protecting young people from online disinformation. At the CCOD, we believe education is a crucial pillar in any effective approach to counter disinformation, alongside innovation and regulation. The team at SOUK also serves as secretariat to the Political & Media Literacy APPG, which will provide a fantastic opportunity to coordinate our respective networks of parliamentarians as we endeavour to shape policy thinking.

Matteo Bergamini, MBE, Founder and CEO of Shout Out UK said:

At Shout Out UK, we have long championed political and media literacy as a cornerstone of a healthy democracy and an essential safeguard for young people navigating an increasingly complex online information environment. Our partnership with the Council for Countering Online Disinformation represents an important step towards a more joined-up, strategic response to the challenges posed by online disinformation.

As Secretariat for the APPG on Political and Media Literacy, we work closely with parliamentarians, educators, academics and civil society to translate research and frontline experience into meaningful policy discussion. This partnership builds directly on that work, allowing us to connect our convening role in Parliament with the CCOD’s wider ecosystem to drive meaningful, sector-wide change in countering online disinformation.

This partnership is a testament to how the sector can work together towards our common goal: protecting the integrity of our democratic discourse. We look forward to our collaboration!
