We are proud to announce that Man Enough: How to Protect Boys from Online Misogyny by our founder, Matteo Bergamini MBE, and our Head of Strategy and Communications, Amelia Fairney, will be published in September 2026.
We are facing a crisis of online misogyny. Girls and women are bearing the brunt of harmful beliefs and behaviour, amplified by the internet’s echo chamber, which are gaining significant traction among boys and young men. The ‘manosphere’ is unregulated, seductive in its messaging and full of misinformation. Its influencers prey on boys’ normal insecurities to monetise toxic narratives which blame women and girls, and tout a restrictive and controlling version of masculinity as an easy route to ‘success’.
Drawing on our expert-led media literacy programmes, Man Enough will teach parents how to talk so their boys will listen. From online safety, to spotting fake news and building emotional resilience, this reassuring guide will empower parents to help their sons build resistance to manipulation, lead healthier online lives, and foster respectful relationships.
Cindy Chan, Publishing Director at Souvenir Press said: ‘I am thrilled to be working with Matteo and Amelia on this important project – Man Enough will impart all the expertise from their valuable work with Shout Out UK, offering parents a candid exploration of the worrying landscape that forms the manosphere and valuable tools to guide their boys through safely. Their passion is infectious; they will do immense good with this urgent and compelling book.’
Matteo Bergamini MBE said: ‘As a man and a father to two young kids, I need to do my part to ensure that these misogynist con men are stripped of their ability to profit from infecting boys’ minds with a twisted version of masculinity. In our work in schools for Shout Out UK, we use effective pre-bunking strategies to inoculate kids from harmful disinformation like that touted by the manosphere.
I am honoured that Profile has given me the chance to bring our work to a wider audience in Man Enough. For the sake of both girls and boys, I hope this book will go some way to ensuring online misogyny is relegated to the dustbin of history.’
Amelia Fairney said: ‘I’ve admired Profile since its founding so I’m incredibly proud to join a list that boasts such a stellar line-up of nonfiction authors. Having raised a Gen Z son to adulthood alongside the rise of the so-called manosphere, I wanted to write a book which I would have found helpful myself ten years ago.
Our book highlights the real harm done to women and girls by misogynistic online narratives, but it does not demonise either boys or tech. Instead, we’ve tried to ground the “manosphere” phenomenon in its wider context, emphasising that sexism and misogyny hold us all back, and suggesting practical steps to inoculate boys from the lure of these toxic “manfluencers”.’
