Moving is a tiresome and daunting task that comes with a set of its own challenges. Whether you’re moving on your own or hiring professional services to aid in the big move, it still causes substantial stress for the family. The process gets even more intense with the challenges of the move combined with the risks associated with the Covid-19 pandemic.

If you have no choice but to move to a new home in these difficult times and are looking to hire professional moving services, here are some tips you must go through before proceeding with the move:

1. Proceed with Caution

It is important to note that the whole world is going through a global pandemic, and each country has been affected by the repercussions in one way or another. If the move is unavoidable and must happen, then our number one tip would be to proceed with caution. Be well aware of your surroundings and the people around you, choose removal companies wisely, and plan your move as safely as possible.

2. Manage the Number of Interactions

If you’re hiring a mover, it is important to ask their policies and safety precautions before getting removal quotes. Make it clear that during the packing and moving process, the number of people entering and leaving the house should be limited to 2 or 3 workers. On your part, limit the number of people in the house coming in contact with the movers. Keep ageing parents, immunocompromised or sick family members and kids away from unnecessary exposure.

 3. Clean As You Go

As we already know the recommended guidelines of hand washing and using sanitizers, make sure to clean and disinfect furniture, wooden supplies, personal belongings, toiletries and other miscellaneous items as they are situated into your new home. Avoid handshakes and other skin to skin interactions. Make it a priority to wear face masks and use hand sanitizers to disinfect the hands if any person is entering or leaving the house. Make cleanliness and safety a priority during the move. Make it a point to discard all such recyclable boxes, plastic wraps or anything reusable that came into contact with the mover.

4. Know the Symptoms

As a responsible citizen, it is your duty to inform the moving company about any corona positive patient in your family, to help maximize the safety and disinfection protocol if the company still agrees to go ahead with the move.
